In the July/August edition of Roofing Today, page 18, roofers question the integrity of solar installers not using experienced roofers to carry out installation work. In the article they site the fact that much of the work is carried out by those in the electrical profession who have little knowledge of roofs or roofing structures. It points to contractors using systems that drill through slates and tiles in the hope of hitting the rafters below rather than removing the slates or tiles and using traditional flashing to prevent water ingress. It also highlights the lack of knowledge in assessing insecure or broken tiles or slates that are left rather than being repaired.
Fortunately for our customers, we have our own dedicated team of specialist roofers and builders who can not only carry out PV installation work but can also remove old chimneys and completely re-roof failing structures.
